Schools across the country mark Dr. Seuss’s birthday with “Read Across America,” a pep rally for reading that pays tribute to the man who brought us The Grinch, Fox in Sox and The Cat in the Hat. PBS KIDS joined in on the celebration with Dr. Seuss’s Cat-E-Bration, featuring a week of new episodes. Since Mom is the ultimate decision-maker on what her kids watch, we had to break through the clutter and give her and the kids a reason to get excited about the new episodes of Cat in the Hat. We created an interactive gaming experience across tablets and smartphones where users would “pop” balloons on their screen in order to see a sneak preview of the show. To ensure viewers wouldn’t forget to tune-in for the event with their families, our mobile banners displayed a real-time countdown with add-to-calendar functionality until the launch of the premiere.
